Monday Morning Breakfast

Monday Morning Breakfast

I had one of my favorite breakfasts, today. Kind of a go to because it is so simple to put together and I know I am eating healthy. I don’t like the mess I have to clean up afterward when making a smoothie. Nor, do I like the seeds that seem to always get stuck in my teeth when drinking it. This way I find easier for me to clean up and not as many seeds getting stuck.

A bowl of oatmeal topped with vanilla yogurt. Most of the time I have fresh berries to put on top but not today. I was out of berries. Time to go shopping for fresh fruit and veggies. Anyway, I use about a quarter cup of dry oatmeal, add water to cover the oats and pop the bowl into the microwave for two minutes on high. When done I mix the oats a bit then add about two big tables spoons of the vanilla yogurt. Voilá! Three minutes total and done. And it is delicious. Give it a try sometime. You just might like it.

A great way to start my day with a meal that will keep me feeling full throughout the morning. Plus, I like knowing I am doing something healthy for me with my food. I find this is a positive boost mentally that lasts and pushes me to stay true to myself.

The Day After

The Day After

The past two days I spent prepping and had the dreaded “C” word. Colonoscopy. I know no one likes having it done but it is one of the necessary evils. The good thing is, everything is A-okay! Now I can put the next procedure off for ten years.

Today I am hungry. But surprisingly, not for junk or sweets. Taking this as a cue to eat clean. Since I work this evening at a show and am the wardrobe lady for two well know entertainers who expect perfection, I am packing fresh fruit and plenty of water. Don’t want to tire myself out with foods that have no lasting substance. No candy or bad snacks for me tonight! I will do this the right way today and have energy to boot.

Actually looking forward to the wonderful smell of a fresh cut tangerine. Plus a little protein to give me some stamina. One of my favorites and I also use this as a dip for parties, is vanilla yogurt with fresh berries. Mmm-mmm good!

Time to go and fight that LA/Orange County traffic! With any luck, it won’t be too bad. A girl can dream, right.

(Side not: I forgot to take the fruit and yogurt with me. So, I went to In-n-Out across the street and got myself a lettuce wrapped hamburger with a tomato slice, lettuce, and their special sauce on it. Do have to admit, I missed the bun. I am a bread lover so cutting back on bread is a hard one for me. But, the dinner was delicious and I will definitely order it again.)

Getting Back Up

Getting Back Up

Yesterday, I didn’t do well on watching my intake. Too many of the goodies at work. I was bummed last night at my lack of willpower but today is a new day and a positive one at that.

As soon as I am done with this post I am going to do a short workout focussing on my core. A number of years ago I had physical therapy for my hip and shoulder. Surprisingly, there was a lot of focus on core exercises. The situps were the easiest ones I had ever done and produced great results over time. Tiny movements without straining so I will start with them today.

Also, spoke with a business associate this morning who I consider a friend and the conversation led to taking care of our bodies and mind. It was an uplifting conversation that has motivated me for the day. It was just a reminder that we all need support and this journey is not one that has to be done alone. We are living beings who are intertwined and can benefit from each other.

Here’s to having a great day!

Oh, and here’s a picture of me at the theater. They have great full-length mirrors! Kind of hard to see with me being in my blacks. Will try to get some more tonight, along with a side view.

Facing the Demon

Since I freelance on the side at local theaters and shows plus run my graphic design business, today is going to be a long day. A very long day.

On top of that, I am working Hospitality at the theater for everyone working backstage. Normally, I do Wardrobe. This is a new position for me but I am more than capable handling this.

With all the food that will be around, I am sure temptation will be knocking at the door. There are candies, fruit, healthy snacks, sodas, etc. I don’t like soda so I am okay with that. It is that bite of candy that will be my battle for today. I like water and drink it regularly, so I figure when I get a candy craving I’ll just have a couple of sips of water.

Wish me luck! I’ll let you know how it goes tomorrow.

My First Day!

Today is the day! Officially launching my personal journey on making myself the best I can be.

I chose the name My Fit 640 as there are 640 muscles in the human body. If I do not feed and exercise them correctly, my muscles cannot take care of me. I have let myself go through half-hearted walking and indulging in foods that don’t help me reach my full potential—physically or mentally.

It has taken 1-1/2 years to make this journal live. Not through learning how to do it, I do web design for a living, but through procrastinating. Procrastinating because what if I fail at it? What if I get tired of doing it? What if don’t want to do it anymore? What if I don’t have the right photos to put online? What if I don’t write the right things. All poor excuses. But, none of it matters if I don’t try. I am done with what ifs.

So, here I am. Opening myself up to the world and going on a journey. You are welcome to follow me. You are welcome to support me. You are welcome to join me. I just have some simple rules I am going to follow. Maintain a positive attitude and overcome negative thoughts even on those down days. Focus on eating healthy—as close to natural and unprocessed as possible. Excercise at least 4 times a week. Create a balanced, healthy and active lifestyle for me.
